Why this site exists
Thousands of homes around Mount Horeb, Verona, Dodgeville, New Glarus and Spring Green get their water from a private well. When the water stops or changes, most of the useful information is scattered across state agency PDFs and national how-to sites that don’t know Wisconsin rules.
This site pulls the local pieces together: typical well depths by town, where to test water now that the Madison lab has closed, what the 2026 well code changes mean, and when the law requires a licensed professional.
